Vancouver's Botanical Oasis

There’s a lot of untapped magic in listening to your intuition. We often seek out other's advice and opinion when it’s truly a question of asking yourself what you want.

I've been practicing the art of listening to my intuition and living more in line with my truth. I talked about listening to your intuition in a recent #CordeTV. Likely more to come on that subject because it is an art.

When I was in Vancouver last week, I took my first day off in MONTHS. Literally since August. I started a part time job on top of Carpe Corde. Any day I did have off from working and/or both was spent with an obligation of some sort.

No days for Jo!

So I took a damn day. Away from the computer. Away from my phone. No social media. Nothing.

It was AWESOME.

I was exploring for the day and happened upon a little botanical oasis. It was off a walking path, in the urban suburbs, a bit from downtown. It’s the Vancouver Compost Demonstration Garden. I’ve recently become obsessed with composting, thanks to my roommates. Andrea, I’m looking at you. It made me fascinated with the concept of a garden involving that.

I debated going inside. It’s open to the public but for some reason, my head was saying “don’t go in,” while my heart was saying “go.”

I listened to my heart.

And found what you see below.

It was the highlight of my day. Quite possibly the trip.

The marveling question is: what if I hadn’t listened to my heart? I wouldn’t have seen this beautiful place.

I spent an hour or so here. This place kept going and going and going. Part of it walking around taking pictures, the other part sitting on a cute little bench and being present in the moment. Relishing in finding this gem and in the beauty of the world and really, of my life. Being grateful for everything, including that magical moment. It had a garlic-head brick oven, for goodness sake!

Something shifted for me in that garden. I’m not fully sure how to explain it, but it did.

I’ve added a day like this to my monthly responsibilities. Because it was just too good. Something I had forgotten to make a priority.

I want to share some of the shots from the oasis. There were a lot …

Lots of love,

PS: More on my adventure in Canada soon!
